A super-Earth is a planet with a mass greater than Earth, but still significantly less than the ice giants of our solar system, Uranus and Neptune.
What would be the attraction of visiting a super-Earth, a bigger, more massive planet than our own? The easy answer is more gravity! HD 40307g is twice as big in volume as the Earth and and scientists aren't sure if it has a rocky surface or one that's buried beneath thick layers of gas and ice. One thing that is certain though, at eight time the Earth's mass, its gravitational pull is much, much stronger.
